Every Minute is Borrowed Time

It’ll take more than a bad dream to keep me away

From the things I’ve desperately wanted to face

The things I’ve desperately wanted to chase

Do you see my legs, exhausted from race?

I cannot deny, I’ve experienced doubt

Been encompassed in grief and shamed with the pouts

But fighting at turns and twists on my path

Surviving the aches, the pain and the crash

Is brilliant, is crucial and importantly so

Building a soul that’s destined to grow

Life after life I’ve chipped away more

Tearing the fibers to build though it’s sore

Now that I’m older and a bit more wise

I only wish I could have seen through the eyes

Of a young and tired, unknowing babe

Defeated aplenty but not to the grave

It’ll knock you down time over time

But the beating you take molds a diamond of life

Strength is a painful and agonizing feat

And the years ahead, I pray that you’ll meet
